Ben Harris How heart-breakingly short so many of these awe-inspiring, haunting and ephemeral tracks are. For ambient tracks so fleeting, they are nevertheless marvellously multifaceted. Favorite track: Hills In Flames.

Pica Pica A remarkable collection of Tor's utterly inspired ambient. Tor has been an artist that I've listened to more than any other over the last few years, which really speaks to the depth and beauty of his work. His music allows me to access that part of myself that is something truly liminal, something familial and supernatural that lives always beside me. It is a constant and beautiful reminder of how intimate it can be to be alone with the alone itself. Favorite track: Hills In Flames.

about

Originally released as a limited CD edition of 300 copies on Eternal Autumn Editions in 2009 (EAE006).

ARTIST STATEMENT:

The period between 1991 and 1994 was a productive time for me musically. I was constantly recording everything from ambient experiments to pop songs on my trusty Tascam 4-track.

Fortunately, my ambient side took precedence and I ended up with a substantial collection of instrumental music. Only a fraction of this material has seen the light of day, so I felt I owed it to my younger self to release a selection of these recordings before the DAT and cassette masters aged beyond repair.

"Insect Wings, Leaf Matter & Broken Twigs" is the result. An odd but fitting title, this album gathers together 26 of my favorite early recordings, ranging from spontaneous sketches to fully developed pieces. Listening to these tracks now, I'm taken back to the exact time and place when I recorded them. I still sense the shifts in weather and see the changing light shining through whatever window I was working near. Fond memories from a simpler and more carefree time in my life.
