"The Seasons Unfold" Sampler

by Tor Lundvall

Whir (Mix 2) 02:23
“29” Where have my feelings gone? Rain falls inside my heart Wash me in the warmest sleep Wrapped in covers safe and deep Empty mailbox, no one calls Eyelids heavy as rain falls Hazy sleep washes me in warm Too dark to think today I live with dreams and a lonely mind My clock is set to a different time Feel the wash of the rusty ground As the music fades away
“THE BACKYARD” A long summer day slowly fades away Rosy sunlight falls as the evening calls See the golden crowns shining on the ground Hear the children play, laughing far away An old man on the lawn, his face is pale and drawn Stares into the sky waiting for the night

Originally released as a promotional CD on Strange Fortune in 2007 (SF5).

This sampler features three alternate versions of tracks from the 4-CD box set "The Seasons Unfold" (unreleased at that time), plus the instrumental 'November's Fields'. All tracks / versions are exclusive to this EP.

Recorded in November 1995, 'Whir' was the very first recording for my second album, "Ice". I revisited the track a few months later and worked on this second mix. I originally intended 'Mix 2' to be the final track on the album, however the running order didn't feel right, so it was removed.

'29' was re-recorded in April 2000 as the intended B-Side of a 7" single that never happened. 'Ghost Girl' was re-recorded at the same time for the A-Side, but was also shelved and later released on the rare "Seasons Sketches" CDr.

The original take of 'The Backyard' is similar to the final version on "Under the Shadows of Trees", however this early version was recorded more spontaneously, so it's more natural sounding and laid back.

'November's Fields' was recorded in 1993, just after I wrapped up the basic tracks for "Autumn Calls". It's a soundtrack for grey skies and rusty leaves and still manages to evoke memories of late Autumn by the sea where I live.
